Creating an online survey will help you when launching an app or website. In this case, several questions were added to my online survey targeting the aspects of design, functionality, usability and friendliness.
Age factor was added to get a closer look at how people of different ages will answer the questions. Overall, the app did very well through responses. It is a way to help any individual get his body type, or just eat healthier and provide any type of recipe, being educational as well. This also encourages healthy eating. Seems to be a win-win situation.

Answers/Responses:
What I tried to do was keep the questions simple as to not be boring for the participant. However, it might have been too simple of questions, maybe I should have gone deeper when it came to asking the questions to understand WHY they answered what they answered. I should have focused more on getting more responses as well, as maybe these particular responses were not enough to fully understand how users will view SHRED.
Apart from these factors to consider, SHRED seems to please the users overall. 13 out of 20 responses answering 5/5 in app rating is very pleasing as hard work pays off.
I personally think that even though about 2 users suggested to add videos of the process or pricing of ingredients, these will vary as that is why I did not include these factors in the app. For example, price will vary from country to country, shop to shop, and videos will discourage users from even uploading any recipes at all. Unless there is some sort of payment to users on amount of times users saved their recipes or the amount of likes, they will definitely not upload a video.
Not to sound funny or anything related, but I truly feel as if SHRED is ready to enter the market as it is. In fact, meetings are underway with a company to actually take this app to market. The app has passed stage 2 and is on the final stage of the process before the go ahead. I will get 60% of profits for just giving the idea, mock ups, design and basic stuff presented, where as the company will take care of launching, coding and marketing.
Certain parts that could be changed include the rating option, font could be considered, more depth in the app(ex: comment option, messaging between users etc)

JOURNAL - SHRED
SHRED is the name of the app designed for an assignment. Firstly, Shred means 'a strip of some material, such as paper, cloth, or food, that has been torn, cut, or scraped from something larger.' In this case, Shred refers to burning fat and making muscles appear more.
SHRED is an app specifically designed to cater fitness freaks, fitness enthusiasts, anyone who is trying to achieve their body goal, or literally anyone who wants to eat healthier.
Part of the assignment was to see our likes and dislikes. The idea of this type of app struck me while doing this exercise. I am a person who cares a lot about my body and my health. I train 5 times a week and love doing it. I struggle when it comes to dieting properly, not training itself. People would think that training is the hard part, they are completely wrong. The type of food and amount of food affects how your body and physique changes massively.
So the idea of the app revolved around how difficult and annoying it is to diet properly. First of all, you have to restrict what you eat, dieting food is not as tasty as greasy, fatty foods. That's already enough to put people off from dieting, but wait there's more. Trying to vary what you eat and making sure that it will still work for your particular diet. Literally, everyone who tries to change their physique for the better will suffer from this problem.
But do not worry. SHRED is here. The slogan of the app is 'Recipes at the tip of your finger', and rightly so. The whole point of the app is to discover, save and use recipes according to your category of training.
The app is split into 4 categories. These are Bodybuilding, Weight Loss, Fitness & Toning. Recipes of meals will vary in proteins, carbohydrates, fat percentage, sugars, and flavor. This will all depend on the category you choose for your body, whether it's to bulk up and gain muscle, whether or not you want to lose weight, stay fit or tone up for the summer. LITERALLY any type of recipe can be found on SHRED. You also have a choice to search from all the recipes on the app based on tags or ingredients. Through the search option, you have the choice to filter your searches. This app could be used by literally anyone.
Let's take a situation.
Let's say you are cooking a dinner for your family of significant other and you have no idea what to cook. All you have to do is search through this app according to what ingredient or type of recipe you would like. Maybe you want to cook a chicken dish. So, in this case, you type in chicken in the search bar and the top rated recipes will show up. Oh yes, I forgot to tell you, you have the ability to rate a recipe on the app. You must create an account and by doing so, you have many abilities. These include uploading recipes, saving recipes found to your recipe library and searching through different recipes.

JOURNAL - WEEK 3
20th Feb
This lesson was all about reproducing icons in a chosen application. I have decided tho try to reproduce very common illustrator tools like the selection tool, pen tool and so on.

Practically, all the photos seen above are steps in how I recreated icons in illustrator cc. By also using the ruler tool when recreating icons that can be split through the center. The raster images are the actual tools, where on the other hand the vector images are the recreated ones. As an exercise, this will be important to use when creating or recreating something. This is to spot all the factors that make the work what it is.
21st Feb
After discussing elements of tools and anything related, we were told to choose a website that struck us from AWWWARDS.COM . After scrolling through a number of websites, a few struck my eye. However, one struck me more than the rest. The website I chose to discuss and analyze is parklife.uk.com The colours and style used on the 'link' of the website on awwwards.com caught my eye before even reading the title.
Just from looking at the website link, I had a feeling that it was a website of a music festival before reading the description. So design is on the right track as it made me realize that it was a music festival before reading about it.
When clicking on the website page, The Homepage or Landing page of the website came up.
As you can see yourself, this is a cool, unique and fun website. This is one of my favorite websites I have seen till today. The colours work perfectly together, as well as the fun illustrations.
Below are screenshots of the long continuous home/landing page.

JOURNAL - WEEK 2
Week 2 was more subject related. From sweets, to websites and applications.
Monday 13th Feb
We were introduced to a site related to web design. This site was wix.com . This site was a free web design site, with its terms & conditions of course. This site allowed you to edit text, design, layout, fonts and design in general of your won website. Also choosing your url HOWEVER with wix.com in the url. Progress on the site is happening so far. I will need to make it more personalised with photos and videos perhaps.
Till now i am satisfied with the layout and fonts of the website a long with opacities and colours. Colours could change eventually according to what background photo/pattern/texture/video i choose to use.
There also is the layout from a mobile phone.
This was a hands on exercise where design meets layout. The site is actually the one you are reading this from.
Tuesday 14th Feb
From examining a chocolate, we had to examine an application. Be it Illustrator, photoshop, After Effects, Word and so on.
We had to examine the layout, colours, design, tools, use, and everything in between with screenshots to back up our work.
The application I chose to examine is Photoshop.
The next time you fire up your copy of Photoshop, spare a thought for the scores of developers and the reams of code that have gone into making it. If you are interested in finding out the history of Photoshop, click on the link below!
http://www.creativebloq.com/adobe/history-photoshop-12052724
The version i am examining is photoshop cc. When opening the program, the layout opens however you must then open a document to work with according to the size and options you would like the file to be.
'Photoshop
gives you the tools to combine multiple images, remove objects and
retouch photos to transform your images into anything you can imagine', as described by Adobe.
When looking at the screenshot above many things can be taken into consideration and noticed. You notice the menu bar, tool bar, details, options, colours and so on.
As you can see the tool bar is where you will find the tools you need to manipulate the chosen photo or work. Tools like quick selection tool, crop tool, lasso tool, eye dropper tool, blemish tool, sharpen tool, brush tool, clone tool, eraser tool, fill tool, zoom tool, pen tool, text tool, shape tool, colour tool and so on can be seen.
Some of these tools are easy to recognize the name and purpose of these tools. Tool icons have not been changed so much over the years, like the save button with the floppy disc icon. This is done left the same to not confuse anyone as many know the meaning of that icon(if not everybody).
To the right, you can see the right part of the screen or program. Here more icons are seen for more options. For example, the color and swatch panels, photo adjustments like hue&saturation, history tool, hue&saturation tool and so on. On the bottom right is a panel regarding layers. Like the new layer icon, delete layer, layer mask etc.
