JOURNAL - WEEK 2

Week 2 was more subject related. From sweets, to websites and applications. 

Monday 13th Feb

We were introduced to a site related to web design. This site was wix.com . This site was a free web design site, with its terms & conditions of course. This site allowed you to edit text, design, layout, fonts and design in general of your won website. Also choosing your url HOWEVER with wix.com in the url.  Progress on the site is happening so far. I will need to make it more personalised with photos and videos perhaps. 

Till now i am satisfied with the layout and fonts of the website a long with opacities and colours. Colours could change eventually according to what background photo/pattern/texture/video i choose to use. 
There also is the layout from a mobile phone. 

   




This was a hands on exercise where design meets layout. The site is actually the one you are reading this from.

 






Tuesday 14th Feb

From examining a chocolate, we had to examine an application. Be it Illustrator, photoshop, After Effects, Word and so on.

We had to examine the layout, colours, design, tools, use, and everything in between with screenshots to back up our work. 

The application I chose to examine is Photoshop.

The version i am examining is photoshop cc.  When opening the program, the layout opens however you must then open a document to work with according to the size and options you would like the file to be.

'Photoshop gives you the tools to combine multiple images, remove objects and retouch photos to transform your images into anything you can imagine', as described by Adobe.

 

When looking at the screenshot above many things can be taken into consideration and noticed. You notice the menu bar, tool bar, details, options, colours and so on. 

 

As you can see the tool bar is where you will find the tools you need to manipulate the chosen photo or work. Tools like quick selection tool, crop tool, lasso tool, eye dropper tool, blemish tool, sharpen tool, brush tool, clone tool, eraser tool, fill tool, zoom tool, pen tool, text tool, shape tool, colour tool and so on can be seen. 
Some of these tools are easy to recognize the name and purpose of these tools. Tool icons have not been changed so much over the years, like the save button with the floppy disc icon. This is done left the same to not confuse anyone as many know the meaning of that icon(if not everybody).  
 
 


To the right, you can see the right part of the screen or program. Here more icons are seen for more options. For example, the color and swatch panels, photo adjustments like hue&saturation, history tool, hue&saturation tool and so on. On the bottom right is a panel regarding layers. Like the new layer icon, delete layer, layer mask etc.
